Always a favorite! Great waitstaff, good food, good coffee. Grilled biscuit with breakfast is a treat.
My waitress was the sweetest woman! Very accurate with the menu. The mimosa was very tasty
The food was delicious and the service was superb! Hubby had the biscuits and gravy and he highly recommends them. I had quiche and it was cooked perfectly. Update: We visited this restaurant 6 times while we were in Maine. Always consistent and Kimmie provided excellent service every time!
This cafe has very good food, nice waiters and waitresses, and pleasant vibes.
Very large seating area, very friendly staff, and they are more than accommodating when asking for changes in menu items. Omlets are large and indeed overstuffed with fresh ingredients. Food was properly cooked to order, and the staff go out of there way to ensure you are satisfied with your meal.Restaurant was very clean, well layed out. There may be a wait during tourist season that should be expected, especially in the location of Downtown Ellsworth, known as the Crossroads of Down East Maine.Overall, had a great meal, and enjoyed my breakfast, and plan to review their lunches at a later date.
Great food. Great waiters and waitresses. Service is timely.
Every time I come to Ellsworth I make a point to have breakfast at Riverside. The food is prepared to order andstaff is friendly and helpful. They truly make you feel welcome.
Another must stop and eat place in Maine.... OMG food is awesome and service is fantastic... We have never had a bad meal here... My son gives the chocolate chip pancakes 2 thumbs up!!!!!!!
Great small town spot! Friendly staff and great food. Never had something that I didn't like here. Their milkshakes are the best!
I had a great breakfast, enjoyed at the bar. Many lunchers12;45 pm. The coffee tastes better in the cobalt mugs. GREAT svc by the blonde waitperson. Back soon.
Nice atmosphere, ham and cheese quiche was amazing. Service was friendly and good
Friendly service and great food. Menu is sort of upscale diner for breakfast (try the Crab Benedict!), fancy soup and sandwiches for lunch. The dining room is bright and airy with lots of wood details. Oh, FWIW, cash or check only, they don't take cards.
The food is awesome and priced reasonably, portions are great, staff very friendly and the place is clean.
Alwase packed bever can get seated paper straws that ho limp
Best eggs benedict I think I may have ever had. I did the veggie and the lobster with avocado (YUM!!). They have homemade everything, including their orange juice. We tried a homemade cinnamon roll which was so good! The hashbrowns are so crispy and delicious and the pancakes were amazing. It was refreshing to find a place that takes pride in every part of the dishes they prepare.
The music is 70s, 80s, and the food is plentiful and delicious! What a find to be driving through this town of Ellsworth and happen upon the Riverside Cafe. The egg menu looked extensive but I ordered a plate with fruit, yogurt and granola. Just wonderful especially since I was able to take advantage of the best time for blueberries in the best blueberry State! Stop by this very enjoyable cafe soon!
Fare amount of veggie/ vegan menu items. I had the Wrap it up tofu & veggie wrap. Tasty, not overly huge. Delicious housemade Red pepper hummus with huge amount of tortilla chips. I asked for the pickles. 😉
Wonderful experience, great food! The wait can be long, but that just means you're at the right place! The service is great and even though the wait may be long the food comes out quick and hot! I'd highly recommend breakfast or brunch at Riverside Cafe!
Served us bad crabmeat
Good food and ambience. Very courteous staff. Really pleasant place for breakfast.
There food is amazing and out in a timely fashion
The first time I went I said no dairy and some dairy was in my food. However, after a few years I gave them another chance and I have had no issues since. I think it was probably just human error. Unfortunate, but understandable. The Cafe has a nice atmosphere and the food is good.
we stopped here early on a Monday morning on our way out of Acadia. The atmosphere was great, with a cozy hometown feel. Servers were friendly, efficient, and great with our toddler. But the food, the food was by far the best! I shared a tall stack of amazing buttermilk pancakes with our little one and think we ate just about the same amount, coffee, sausage and homefries were standard but still yummy. My husband got Eggs Benedict which were cooked perfectly. I am a breakfast fiend and if we find ourselves in the area again we will be sure to return! (especially for a slice of pie, they looked amazing but post breakfast at 8am it just wasnt in my cards!) As a bonus, very reasonably priced particularly for the quality.
Very quick service and tasty food.
Wonderful place! We were seated immediately, our hostess and waitress were wonderful, and the food was cheap and delicious. While they didn’t have iced coffee ready at the time ( :( ), it was a perfect place for a quick breakfast.
Great food, owner is awesome and friendly and staff was very attentive!
Fast friendly staff. Ate there 3 mornings in a row. The food was simple, but prepared perfectly.
Fantastic food, excellent service, reasonable prices. My crab meat Eggs Benedicte was heavenly. My wife loved the special pumpkin pancakes. Tasty coffee available during our 20 minute wait. Attentive staff, nice artwork for sale on the walls, all in all great vibe.
Great food and great service... overall good prices
My favorite place with an amazing stuffed french toast and good coffee.
Best cafe ever great breakfast awesome service and some of the best coffees around
Wonderful food and wonderful people. Busy in the mornings but got us seated quickly and served the best butter milk pancakes. Always a treat coming here.
Great food, service and prices! Really nice waitress. Everyone there smiles which is always a good sign! Stopped in while heading south on the way back from Bar Harbor.
Delicious quiche and great safe service
The food, basic diner good, was prepared EXACTLY the way I wanted it. (Eggs medium, hash crispy)
Consistently good food and great service. Enjoy their support of local artists
Stopped in for lunch. Food was excellent; served steaming hot, very fresh, and full of flavor. Service was great. Waiter was very Pleasant and friendly. We'll be happy to go back again.
Good food, but high prices for breakfast, compared to other breakfast places in the area...
I eat here for lunch several times a week. It's a nice, casual and friendly atmosphere with good service and good food.
We've been coming to Riverside for 18 years and have never been disappointed. The Crabmeat Benedict is a favorite- I always say I'm going to get something different, but 90%of the time, that's my go-to choice. Service is friendly and efficient.
Several years ago, my daughter, wife and I found ourselves hungry and in some town called Ellsworth, ME, while on our way to Acadia. I immediately pointed to the Riverside Cafe. Neither my wife nor daughter were immediately attracted and suggested a Mediterranean restaurant. I said the Riverside looks like it's where the locals eat. Let's go! We all greatly enjoyed our food. Best blueberry pancakes I've ever had! My wife and I visited Maine again last year, and guess where we had breakfast? You guessed it! And after seven years of me mentioning the Riverside blueberry pancakes to my wife, she had to order them as well. Our server was friendly, and service was prompt. My only regret is that I only ate one meal each time I was there. The menu looks great, and I must confess that I found myself surveying other people's plates-- you gotta try this place! Thanks to the Riverside Cafe, Ellsworth Maine is on my map. Nice little town I may add.
The breakfast here is delicious! I had the egg special with sausage, and my gf had the yogurt with granola and blueberries. This is a must stop breakfast spot for anyone in the area!
This place is really good especially if you get there early french fries and Mimosas the breakfast of Gods
The food and staff are incredible. We went here three times in three days and had amazing meals, mimosas, and espresso! Highly recommend!
There was a bit of a wait and it's cash only, but the service was excellent as was the food and atmosphere. Great place for breakfast.
Breakfast was delicious as usual...my most favorite breakfast eatery!
Great place to have breakfast. They have some great food. The omlettes and the pancakes were exceptional. I tried the crab Benedict and just loved it. Great espresso drinks and orange juice is so fresh and great. The ambience is also good. The servers were nice and friendly. The location of the Cafe is great. There are lot of gift shops close by.
This is an old standby for ellsworth. Has been a main street restaurant for a ling time. And why is that? Because the food is consistently good. You know when you go to the riverside, your meal will be good. Bottom line. Their fries are excellent. Um not a big french fry eater, but theirs are heavenly. Crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. Yum.
Comfortable, great food, and price point.
What a delightful "little" cafe! I came in this morning to grab a bite (#1, upgrade to homemade honey wheat and a short stack of buttermilk pancakes). I was welcomed and seated quickly. The restaurant was clean and smelled of breakfast yummyness. My server was incredibly fast, friendly and knowledgeable. The food was cooked well and tasted great. The atmosphere was perfect for a single diner or a group. I will be back at my next opportunity to try a special.
